Transport point to Auschwitz
This monument is what remains of Anhalter Station, a train station in Berlin. In early June 1942, the Nazis began to carry the older Jews from Berlin to Therensienstadt field. Trains "for seniors" began here in Anhalter Banhog, the neighborhood station, continuing until near the end of the war. In March 1945, 15,000 people were deported to the Theresienstadt camp, now in the Czech Republic. A total of 116 trips with 100 people each. 9600 people left this season.
