Nice and cheap
A few years ago I had the great fortune to visit Baltic cities, and one of them was Gdansk - Danzig or -; possibly the city that I liked the most because I love the history of Poland. I only stayed two days in this beautiful city and stayed at the Villa Angela. As always when I travel, I try to spend as little as possible in hotels in order to use money for other things and this case was no exception. Obviously this means I am predisposed to expect squalid, tatty, slumdogs and other adjectives, yet Angela was a pleasant surprise, possibly because it was such a great value. When we got off the bus, the location scared us a little, the outside did not bode well.
Conserved poorly, you might think the inside would be awful as well. Not at all. Once we entered the small reception all our fears evaporated, the atmosphere was warm and friendly, the girl at reception treated us with great kindness (also beautiful, which made my partner jealous). She gave us the keys and we went up to the room. We loaded our bags ourselves into a small room in which barely fit a double bed; you certainly can not say that the rooms are large, but at least they smelled clean and were decorated with some taste. We had no balcony, just a window that looked out on a nondescript street, but luckily the views were not only the wall of a another building. Regarding the sink, a small tub, adequate for necessary items for hygiene. I have to say we got to the hotel late at night, after a long journey, so sleep was welcomed. I think I would have even slept on top of a wooden table due to fatigue, but on the second night I could see that the mattress was too soft, but I do not care because I can sleep anywhere. We always ate out, however the breakfast was more than adequate and we could taste both "continental" and Pomeranian specialties, especially excellent cheese whose name escapes me. Anyway, I have no complaints whatsoever about the hotel, the only negative is the area, since to go downtown, you have to take a good bus ride fortunately there is a stop right next to the hotel). In short, a good hotel, nice and cheap.
