2 reviews of Anacondas in Los Llanos

Most spectacular animal

It is the most spectacular animal of this area of the world, and deserves a separate chapter to describe it. The pictures of these animals do not do justice to their size and strength. They reach up to 9 meters long (although the largest we saw were about 5 metres in length) and are able to eat anything they find. We were lucky to see more than one, especially thanks to the kindness of Victor (the giant in the photo, shown wrestling with an anaconda) and Benjamin, the owner of our travel agency (Osprey Expeditions). I also had the good fortune to coincide with him in our stay at Hato el Cedral.

At Hato, apart from sightseeing and livestock, there is an intensive conservation of local wildlife. In fact one of the Anacondas we saw was studied within the scientific station Herd. I was particularly impressed in finding one of the anacondas resting quietly in a pond. When we found it out of the water it was still digesting it's latest meal, and it wasn't just any meal, but one of the deers that was an inhabbitant of the local area.
