Southern-style brunch in Harlem
If you're in Harlem and want a finger-licking brunch, Amy Ruth's is the place. I first heard about Amy Ruth's on a blog that described them as specialists in BBQ ribs and Southern fixings like sweet potato or corn on the cob. It's a great place to stop in after visiting one of the Gospel services in Harlem, but make sure to get there early. We got there early and had no problem getting a table but there was a massive line out the door when we left. Anyway, it's a medium-sized place with efficient service and generous portions. I ordered the crispy chicken in honey sauce with mashed potatoes and I loved it.
The cakes were awesome too! If you're not in Harlem, I wouldn't say that it's worth going out of your way to eat at Amy Ruth's. However, if your in the area and are hankering for some stick-to-your-ribs Southern cooking, it's definitely the place.
