Tropical bar in Lavapies
Amor Voodoo is an outpost of tropical beats and flavors in Madrid’s historic and multicultural neighborhood of Lavapies. What helps set Amor Voodoo apart from the crowd is its relentless good vibes. The second you step through the door, you feel like you’ve entered the best house party in town. There’s a DJ wedged in a corner spinning tropical bass, classic cumbia, and Brazilian jams, groups of friends laughing and dancing, and some of the friendliest bartenders I’ve found mixing up mojitos and caipirinhas like pros.
They regularly host events and guest DJs (check out their Facebook page for specific details), but if you just stop by on a Friday or Saturday night (or a Sunday afternoon after checking out the Rastro) you’re sure to find a welcoming atmosphere and some of the best music found anywhere in the neighborhood.
The drinks are priced for the masses and the mojitos pack a punch without getting overly sweet. In short: good music, good drinks, good people. For me, Amor Voodoo has definitely become a go-to spot for starting the night in Madrid.
