Amber World Museum

This museum is located in the El Conde shopping street, one of the most popular on the side of Columbus Park. Here you can see large pieces of amber from the Dominican Republic, an exhibition of fossils, and temporary exhibitions. Of course, there's a shop where you can buy pieces of jewelry made from amber, larimar (a blue mineral common to the Dominican Republic) and other precious stones. It's not cheap, but quality is guaranteed. If you decide to go to the market instead, then check that the amber is genuine with the following tests: it changes colour under a fluorescent light, gets static electricity when rubbed with cotton, floats in a glass of salt water, and creates a natural resin when heated with a match.
