No swimming but many attractions
Amatitlán Lake is a half hour from the Guatemala city. It's a lake that used to be a perfect place for city people to come over for the weekend to rest and bathe. Today, because of a few factories put harmful products to the lake, there is no more swimming. But there are many attractions, for children there are games, you can rent a boat and cruise around the lake, eat fish ( from the sea) and Golosinas (sweets from Guatemala) .. In Amatitlán you can bathe in the hot springs. They are like saunas, powered by heat from the nearby volcano. You go there and sweat, a lady brings laurel(bay leaf) and hot water for you to wash.
