Beautiful Hamburg suburb
Altona is a beautiful suburb of Hamburg. It began as a fishing port on the banks of the River Elbe in 1535. It has a unique story, it was run for many years by the Danish monarchy, since Kaiser Frederick III gave up the rights to this suburb. This area of Hamburg is near to the St. Pauli district, and has lots of old houses and streets to wander down, as well a large ridge on the banks of the river that serves as a walkway. There are pure green gardens which you can walk through, or rest under its beautiful trees, watching ships, boats and ferries that circulate in the Elbe. This city has about 244,000 inhabitants and is an elegant part of Hamburg.
