Altes Stadthaus
The Altes Stadthaus was built between 1902 and 1911 to be an addition to the City of Berlin, which was too small for the expansion of the city. Ludwig Hoffman was the planner who designed the facade of this large building. The banquet facilities house 1500 guests, and the place quickly became the center of social life in the political trenches. The building was destroyed during the Second World War, but then renovated to host the Prime Minister and the government of East Germany. It is here that the agreements were signed in 1971 to facilitate the transit of goods and people between the two Germanys.
