Parque Almirante Laulhé

Este parque es el principal pulmón verde de San Fernando, el mayor espacio abierto dentro de la trama urbana. Una de sus grandes cualidades es que no es sólo un parque sino que integra un variado equipamiento que le posibilita para multitud de eventos. Aquí hemos visto la Feria de la Primavera y hasta un Concurso de Tapas, por citar sólo dos presenciados por nosotros. Se inauguró el 3 de marzo de 1987 y está abierto desde las nueve de la mañana a las nueve de la noche, excepto en verano que cierra a las once. Se halla en una ladera, por lo que se divide en varias mesetas, todas ellas arboladas. En la superior hay varios estanques, centro de reunión actual de algunos amigos de la droga. En la meseta intermedia hay un Pabellón Cubierto y una estatua de Blas Infante. En la meseta inferior están en obras, están tapiando una piscina y creando otra a poca distancia. Además en esta zona inferior está el estanque de los Patos, hay un auditorio al aire libre, un parque infantil y una zona con aparatos gimnásticos para laTercera Edad. El parque es muy umbroso y, como se puede comprobar, ofrece muchas posibilidades. Por ello aquí se celebran actos constantemente. Lo malo es que el ayuntamiento quiere reformar el Parque, a pesar de la oposición de los vecinos. Pretende convertir el Parque en zona de paso, eliminando el cerramiento y creando calles internas, transformando parte del Parque en zona de aparcamiento y construyendo un auditorio cubierto con una torre lateral, entre otras reformas sí necesarias como renovar el equipamiento de saneamiento, agua y electricidad. Pienso que convertir el Parque en una zona de paso terminará por degradarlo definitivamente. Sí era necesario renovar la antigua piscina, en unas condiciones lamentables. Algo sí necesario es el aparcamiento, pero deberían de crearlo subterráneo y no en superficie. Nosotros aparcamos lateralmente donde suele haber sitio si no hay eventos. Claro que aparcar en superficie es pan para hoy y hambre para mañana porque nunca tendrá suficientes plazas cuando se celebren actividades. El Parque ya necesita una reforma pero, entiendo, que no a costa de destruirlo. Frente al Parque está el Observatorio de la Marina, lugar interesante para visitar pero para hacerlo hay que concertar una cita con la Oficina de Turismo.
