Beautiful

Ibn-Racin was the name of the Berber tribe that established here with the Muslim invasion. After some time it became a Roman town. The town was called Santa María de Oriente when it was Christian…The ancient history of Albarracín begins like this, a history where protection and defense have been the premise. Today, as you walk its narrow streets and breathe the calmness, it is difficult to imagine that its location was not imagined just for pleasure but as a shelter against danger.

The amazing old part of town is just for pedestrians and very high up. If you go up on the afternoon you will see that the passageways under the arches, the stairs, the doors of the mansions, seem as if they were inhabited by mysterious shadows. Albarracín oozes an aristocratic air; you can see it in its studded doors, in the iron door knockers, in its balconies made with carved wood, in its spectacular work with wrought iron. In one of the winding streets there are little squares that open over the abysm from where the houses seem to hang. The landscape is extremely beautiful. For the construction of houses, they have traditionally used plaster instead of stone, and the color of its walls has the same color of the ravines underneath them.

If you spend the night in the town, don’t miss out on a nocturnal walk. The starry night, the solitary streets, the lights that twinkle in the ravine and the soft murmur of the Guadalaviar River are unforgettable.

A Box Full of Surprises

One arrives to Albarracín with the lesson already learnt. Catalogued as one of the most beautiful towns in Spain, you have heard someone say that you must visit it…

But even if you have heard a lot about it, it still impacts you on your arrival.

You can get to Albarracín through the same road but with two different visions. One, when you arrive from Teruel, with the A512, and after a curve you suddenly find yourself on its lower part. Then, the town gives you the incredible image of a city, with infinite tones of orange and pink, embedded in the rocks, and you can’t stop looking at it.

But I have always kept the image of the first time I saw Albarracín. I was coming through the same road but from the opposite direction. A sign said Albarracín but I could only see a rocky mountain. Albarracín “tricked” me, once we had crossed the tunnel, we found ourselves on a pretty road next to the river and suddenly I looked in the rearview mirror and said: Incredible! The vision of this town framed in the rearview mirror of my car has been with me since then.

The best thing you can do is park the car and start enjoying this charming town, from the lower part with the impressive views of the stairs that twirl above the tunnel. Prepare your cameras; you won’t be able to stop photographing so much beauty.

This is Albarracín. A little box full of amazing surprises.

Walking the Streets

Known as “the most beautiful town in Spain”, Albarracín is located 30 minutes away from Teruel. Located southeast of the lower part of Aragón, the town of Albarracín owes its name to the Muslim conquerors Aben Razin, the name of an Arab family. To walk its streets is to really go back in time all the way to the Middle Ages.

In the town’s entrance you will find a Tourist Office where you can take a map of the town and follow the path they suggest. It is a path that can take you one morning or even until it’s time to eat, if you take things calmly and stop to take pictures. Albarracín has

Many palace-houses, a cathedral, a castle and walls that are perfectly preserved.

I'm in love!

¡Me he enamorado!

It is a beautiful village. Fancy getting lost in their little stone streets, and red buildings, all accompanied by breathtaking views, with green spots. No doubt, a corner of Spain ideal for a romantic getaway. It is known as one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, which stands on a rocky promontory. The city was declared a national monument in 1961. Characterize the architecture of the city, the red plaster facades, wood doors, windows and furniture and wrought iron details. All this, together with the nature surrounding it make it very cozy. If you are someone who enjoy active tourism, the Sierra de Albarracin is ideal. Canyoning, climbing, horse hair, hiking and mountain biking routes. I can not suggest you go to a particular point in the village, just lose yourself in the narrow streets and enjoy.

... Magical medieval city !!!

Canyons, deep ravines, cliffs, rocks, steep rocks, moors, valleys, gentle meadows, vast forests ... with a rich flora (pine-Scots, Corsican, pinaster, junipers, hollies, oaks, gall ...) and fauna (deer, roe deer, wild boar, wild cats, squirrels, ..., migratory birds, raptors and other valuable species). The Sierra also find fountains, springs, ponds and river sources, like the Tagus, Guadalaviar, Cabriel and other minor river, forming capricious backwaters, ponds, waterfalls .... All this coupled with the clean, fresh air that one can breathe and the true spectacle of the night sky, make a tour of these beautiful and quiet places to stop the traveler an unforgettable memory. Every corner, every house, is admired for its doors and callers (iron doorknobs), its tiny windows with lace curtains, their balconies in wrought iron and rich carved wood, ... The main monument is the city itself Albarracín, yet popular and aristocratic taste, reflecting its history and craftsmanship of its people.

Colorful Albarracn

Colorido en Albarracín

Excellent
Last week was spent in a holy town with a magical color, Albarracin. Its streets are narrow, pedestrian and all the buildings are painted in a lovely coppery yellow. Forged bars accompany the doors and windows, many vines climb to the top of the houses and the smell of fresh bread in the bakery center through all its streets. If you follow the winding hillside streets come to the wall that once protected the city, very well preserved. The place is beautiful and has a few bars where for refueling. There you'll also find shops inlaid with fine produce and bakery with sweets. Although without doubt one of the corners that I liked was the bar mill at the entrance to the town from Teruel to the left, down a little towards the river. It gets its name because the entrance to the bar, shows the remains of an old stone mill. In conclusion, I repeat a trip!!

Guided tours Andador

Albarracn has earned the title of one of the most beautiful villages in Spain by own merits, but walking through the streets just is not the same as doing it with the guides of the walker, you have all the legends and secrets of the city. You know why there is a blue house, the only of the entire city? Not be quin I tell you, without them! The price of the visit are 3.5 and includes the entrance to a house museum, to see how people live years ago in this high city. Our guide was Elizabeth, who despite carrying a fairly large group, and was made or sympathy is appreciated, as you take a magnificent memory of the visit, in addition to learning a bunch. It notes that is in love with the city and exudes passion in every word and also get that t fall in love with her. In addition, recomend me a rather hidden rincn of the city, from dnde could get magnficas photographs lasts one hour visit and a half and ends in the shop, where to offer you a desgustacin of typical products (especially good is the cheese!) They know perfectly the area and once the visit, recommend you the best places nearby, such as the waterfall Whipped or climb the walls. Undoubtedly the best way to meet Albarracn! We gust while repeat in Teruel!

Worth

Merece la pena.

Excellent
Cuanto mas me iba acercando mas me emocionaba.

Park the car in the suburbs and I decided to go into the town ... The more I got closer, the more excited I became ... I climbed the stairs by the side of the church and when I started walking through the alleys the little squares while I looked at the houses an overwhelming feeling of joy surprised ... For all those who have not visited yet ... Worth it ... Albarracin is something special ... You enter the whole medieval environment .... I recommend 100% a hug and cordial greeting! !

A people that I

Un pueblo que me

Fui a Albarracín hace mucho tiempo, tenía unos ocho años.

If you want to forget everything, deliver you even for a day is highly recommended. The village is very well maintained, has details that are true works of art, the gates of the windows, coats of some houses, and wooden doors, which are mostly not leave you indifferent. That taste.

Charming medieval town, patrimony of humanity.

This whole town is lovely, think travel back in time to medieval times. Guided tours are very economical in charge of "The Walker". It is worth visiting a house of nobles and climb the wall where there are fantastic views across albarracín. Then you can get between its charming streets and explore getting lost between them. You have to look at the forges and the beautiful wooden doors of the houses. There are some streets so narrow that the roofs of the houses touched the opposite. After doing well worth a riverside walk along the river and surrounding Albarracín is totally conditioned by trails surrounded by greenery and wooden bridges. Very nice citywide.

Lovely

Encantador
