Truthfully, this city surprised us. We were told before we went that it was very commercial but not at all touristy. The second part was true ... we didn't see a single tourist, but the first left us confused. The construction was old, the shopping centers were crowded..not what we expected.
During this trip, I saw a new culture and how peoples lives can be difficult but happy. I stayed at the Surya Palace in Vodedora, a good hotel with a good restaurant which serves Indian food.
Its totally safe city, has some awesome hangout places, night life can be good if you know where to go. Its mainly students city, many top collages and institutions, happy to be here.
You can enjoy the ancient structures like Adalaj ni Vav, Jama Majid etc, or you can spend your weekend exploring Sabarmati Riverfront or you relax finding the inner peace in gandhi ashram.
Or for the foodies you can choose to taste the authentic gujarati dishes.
Suramya II farm houses near Rancharda. Excellent greenery with lots of birds. It's a serene place to be for 2-3 days. Food available near by.
