Abbot's Hospital is found on Guildford's main street, next to the church and the town clock. Bequeathed to the town of Guildford by the Archbishop of Canterbury, George Abbot, who lived in the seventeenth century and is probably the town's most famous resident, it now serves as a retirement home for the senior citizens of the area. You can stay here for free, provided you have lived in Guildford for more than thirty years and have insufficient means to live independently.
