Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial is located downtown and houses several memorials to the atomic bomb. One one side, there's the museum, and on the other the dome where people can see the results of that harrowing day on August 6, 1945. Each year, a tribute to the victims is performed and anti-nuclear and pro-peace messages are released in in the park. There are many school children around, and it's a pleasant place despite what happened there. If you come to Japan, I recommend visiting.

El Parque Conmemorativo de la Paz, de más de 122.000 metros cuadrados y diseñado por Kenzo Tange, está dedicado, como podéis sospechar, al legado de Hiroshima como la primera ciudad en sufrir un ataque nuclear y a la memoria de todas las víctimas de la bomba.

Allí se encontraba el Ayuntamiento, la Oficina Prefectural así como instalaciones centrales de distribución de productos. En 1949 se decidió que todo el distrito se dedicaría a instalaciones memoriales por la paz, lo que fue el germen de lo que hoy es el Parque Conmemorativo de la Paz.
