"At last we will see the estuary behind this mountain of Uralitas" says a neighbor of A Ribeiriña in reference to the demolition of the factory "La Onza de Oro", a cannery that for years generated employment in the area but also prevented the inclusion of this beautiful corner into the Galician tourist routes (it disfigured the landscape and also emitted a strong, repellent smell. 2010 marks a new era for this small town that has traditionally lived on fishing and most likely will soon draw its income from tourism. The demolition of the old cannery gave back the people, their views over the estuary and beach and will allow them to regain what they lost from the cannery's presence.
