Very good food!
We love going to Caldeira, because it has the best octopus in Gijon and the best steak with mushrooms in the world! The biggest problem is finding it - if you don't know Gijon's roads very well, you're better off asking a local for advice. Trying to walk is crazy unless you live in the area. When you finally arrive at the restaurant, the first thing that hits you is the view from the parking lot: you can see everything in Gijon ... the beaches, the harbour, the city ... all in one go. Once inside, you'll find several dining rooms; I've only been in the non-smoking one, and they are spacious and relaxed, with lovely views.
They have other, larger rooms for weddings and banquets. The octopus and grilled seafood are delicious, and you'll feel like you're in some Galician fishing port, they're such good quality. There are other dishes too - plenty of meat, salads, starters, fish, and I recommend the barbecued meat and the seafod, and especially the steak with mushrooms. They offer good Ribeiro and Albariño wine. The price isn't exactly cheap: grilled seafood is around € 42, and a plate of steak € 17, but for a special occasion, it's really unbeatable.
