Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar)

Thousands of colors and smells

Like the Grand Bazaar, the Egyptian Bazaar is known for being a place full of thousands of colors and smells as diverse and the people that visit it. There are lots of caviar shops and plenty of stands selling spices, sweets, and a variety of traditional foods. There are also some more modern shops selling fine porcelain and glass goods.

You'll find everything!

Close your eyes, recite that little chant you learned as a kid, tap your heel three times and...you're in the Spice Market! Like any good magician, you want a potion, lotion, or elixir, and how difficult it is to find these things in the 21st century! Who said that exactly? In the Spice Market, you'll find everything!

This market, with over 500 years of history, is a place for lovers of teas and homemade sweets. Aside from spices, nuts, honeycomb, and olive oil soap, you can also find figs, medicinal bark, dried veggies, and hundreds of varieties of teas. Most of the shops have a vacuum sealer so it's no problem to bring plenty of goods home with you.

Smorgasbord for the senses

The Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar) is one of the oldest markets in Istanbul. It's located in the neighborhood of Eminönü from which you have excellent views of the Galata Tower and the Golden Horn.

Spices, Turkish sweets, clothes, lamps, handicrafts...the market is a literal smorgasbord for the senses. The building was built in 1663 and forms part of the New Mosque complex along with a series of shops, a school, two fountains, and a cemetery.

Bazaar

The Bazaar is a lot smaller than the Grand Bazaar. It is unique however in that it is much more authentic, with traders selling all kinds of spices.

Nice not so big

Excellent

Nice not so big. A good place to buy spices, confectionery and coffee
